This Network aims to target safeguarding biosecurity and biosafety of public and private laboratories in North Africa. Thus, it will contribute to building risk awareness and Biorisk mitigation techniques related to biological agents and toxins, including laboratory infrastructure and other forms of biological capacity building assistance in Libya, Tunisia, and Morocco. Objectives of this network are:
To contribute to the development of more effective public health systems and biosafety/biosecurity measures in North Africa countries.
To build risk awareness and risk mitigation techniques in North Africa related to biological agents and toxins.
To reduce access to dangerous infectious agents and other materials of dual use

In these dynamic times, where the importance of biosafety and biosecurity has never been more evident, the launch of the Safeguarding Biosafety and Biosecurity website and Data Management System stands as a significant milestone on November 14th. This innovative platform marks a pivotal step forward in facilitating seamless access to biosafety and biosecurity resources and fostering collaborative efforts within this field.
The collaborative efforts invested in developing this platform aim not only to provide a user-friendly interface but also to serve as a hub for sharing experiences, disseminating vital information, and keeping stakeholders up to date on upcoming events and advancements.
A virtual kick-off meeting took place on May 16th, 2023, where the partnering countries of Libya, Morocco and Tunisia along with EMPHNET team and partners met. The kick-off meeting is a success beginning of any others to come highlighting the objectives and goals the project will accomplish.
