Building National Capacity in Biosafety and Biosecurity in Kyrgyzstan

As part of its expanding work beyond the Eastern Mediterranean Region, EMPHNET has implemented a project in Kyrgyzstan to strengthen biosafety and biosecurity practices in public and private laboratories across the country.

The project aims to build a sustainable national system that enhances safe handling of infectious agents and prevents unauthorized access to dual-use biological materials.

Empowering Iraqi Professionals through IFBA Certification in Biorisk Management and Biosecurity

As part of its efforts to enhance biosafety and biosecurity in the region, EMPHNET, in partnership with Health Security Partners (HSP), supported the development of an Iraqi cohort of International Federation of Biosafety Associations (IFBA)- certified professionals in Biorisk Management and Biosecurity.

The launch of the Safeguarding Biosafety and Biosecurity website and Data Management System on November 14 marks an important step in expanding access to biosafety and biosecurity resources. This platform provides a user-friendly hub for sharing experiences, key information, and updates on events and advances, fostering stronger collaboration across the field. Virtual kick-off meeting

^{A virtual kick-off meeting took place on May 16th, 2023, where the partnering countries of Libya, Morocco and Tunisia along with EMPHNET team and partners met. The kick-off meeting is a success beginning of any others to come highlighting the objectives and goals the project will accomplish.}
